Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all:

I have a chance to get a new cab, Ampeg BXT-115HL4 at what looks to be a great price....$375.

Who has experience or opinions on this 1/15" cab. It will be used with an svt 410hlf.

Thanks in advance.

It's a great cab, BUT, pairing it with that 410hlf will make for a very imbalanced combo. I suggest reading up a bit on speaker pairings, before buying the 15.

+1 The 15 will never keep up with the more powerful, efficient and louder 4x10. It will always be a weak link.

I use to have the bxt 15 and bxt410 run dual mono(600 watt) each thru ampeg svt 4pro very tight sound it was! but the 15" blew and i got another bxt 410, it is a better sound now. I always think you need atleast 2 15" cabs to get the same spread in sound. But possibly 1 of the best made cabs the bxt range but very heavy beware

I had a bxt410 cab that I liked - it's got a really nice rounded 'bouncy' tone that I think mics well, and pairs really well with acoustically-oriented music. It's scooped in the mids, and I found it had a harder time sitting in a rock mix.

I wish I hadn't sold it. It had a fantastic tone within about 6 feet, but it couldn't project that tone... mic it and you're in business.

I'd think the bxt115 would have a similar character. I'd like to find a cheap one for a stand-alone old-school tone, but I'd be careful with the pairing.
