So Ampeg now has a distribution agreement to get their products into China. That should boost their sales numbers and profits.

Way to go Ampeg! Good things goin' on for you.

Love the avatar, but what do you mean they have a distribution agreement to get their products into China? They've had manufacturing operations in China for 5 years now. Could they not sell their products there before?

Remember Jim, We're talking RED CHINA here. No, they couldn't purchase OUR products there. Only Build them. Ampeg has signed an agreement (with China) to allow the selling of Ampeg's products in Communist China.

Took all these years, but what the hey!!

Congratulations Ampeg!!

I would LOVE to know the price points on the gear, however....somehow I can't see a guy making .50 cents an hour buying a $2,000 dollar rig.....

Maybe not but they could snag a PF head and a PF cab. That's still a very cool rig. Anyway, very cool for my bros at Ampeg!

The Chinese middle class is a lot larger than you'd think. I'm sure Ampeg will find a great market there, especially for the $2000 amps!

Yeah I usually just dare people who say this to purge all China manufactured from their lives and see what they have left. US consumers made it this way, bigger and better......but cheap to buy.

The new Ampeg stuff from "Red China" actually sounds better than the American made SLM stuff. I have owned enough to know.

Would it be nice if they were made in the USA, sure.

Well I should say assembled in the USA because all of the parts to make the USA made amps from any brand has tons of parts from overseas. Keep drinking that American made Kool-Aid. We outsourced America a looooong time ago.

Hope you realize that parts of your car, computer, sink, dishwasher, ect. were all made in China and have been for a very long time. American firms have been outsourcing manufacturing to China so they could avoid stateside labor costs. Before that factories in Japan and Taiwan were used.
The bottom line IMHO is that many American business' created their own downfall by looking to Asia so cut costs.

...based on demand from customers to have good stuff at low prices and demand from workers to have high wages and full benefits at no cost.

Truth is we're all guilty as sin. The owners of the companies, the stockholders, the workers, the customers...we've all created the situation. If we want manufacturing to return, we're all going to have to give up something along the line...less profit, less wages, higher costs...

But that's got about as much chance of happening as Paris Hilton winning the Nobel Peace Prize, so here we are.

It got ugly when western states started borrowing money from Asian sources to fund their crave for Asian products.

I refuse to buy gear with a "Made in China" tag on back, no way. No justification, NOPE.

You?

We are in dangerous territory with the mods? Lets not forget tax breaks for off territory manufacture?
