I bought other cool things that needed to be paid for I did get a '51 P as a consolation for the Tele Bass - but it does not sound quite as good as the classic.

You mean a Japanese Fender '51 P replica? For an original '51 P sounds pretty classic to me :-D. Putting a good P/U in that replica will get a perfect sound from it; it usually isn't a bad guitar at all.

Yes - the MIJ reissue. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a fine bass, it just does not have the punch and clarity that my Tele Bass had. I have considered a pickup upgrade - is there one you would recommend?

I've gone full circle, started with Ampeg many years ago, 1966 B-15n in middle school, graduated to a 1973 SVT with 810 cab. Left Ampeg and spent many years in the wilderness, mostly with Fender and SWR. Now the last few years I've acquired my dream amps and my dream tone. I think I covered all the bases with these:
- 1969 Ampeg B-15n
- Two B-100Rs
- Ampeg SVT VR
- 410 HLF
- 810 AV

(1970 P-Bass, 1971 Telecaster Bass, Gibson Thunderbird, Rickenbacker 4003)

I could use a number, please

-Jeff

I'm already number 816 from when I had a PF350/PF115he. I left the club for a while when I sold it but now I'm back!

Oh boy! Just ordered a PF350 head for 199.99 and free shipping! I've needed something for rehearsal so I can leave it there. Didn't want to take my v4b and cabs there and leave them, so I was using my 80 watt living room amp; back and forth. Now I'll just take my 210 down that basement and leave it. Ill take the head home to keep it outta the hands of his kids. Psyched! I hope it's a good unit like JimmyM says; I'm such an Ampeg fanboy 8p
