Ampeg PR-810h vs 810e

Sign in to disble this ad
how do they compare?

I currently have an 810e, which I love
but a friend asked me to trade for his PR-810h... is it a trap?

I currently have an svt-2pro head. dream about making it an SVT-AV eventually.
is 300watts enough to power the PR-810h?

Well, lets see....the PR8X10 weighs in at (about) 235 pounds and is a BEAR to move (I know, I used to have one). I currently play the 8X10 and, like you, I love it. However, based on tone and not the weight issue, I would take the PR8X10. Yes, 300 TUBE watts would be fine...

The other consideration (at least for me) would be re-sale. I have seen the PR4X10 models going for $250-300 locally and a couple of months ago, I saw one of the 8X10s go for $475.....

Good Luck!

re-sale is a factor.
but if i saw an PR810 @ 500$ i'd jump on it in a heartbeat, just to have a 2nd 8X10
but i've never even seen one for sale 2nd hand around my parts.
i'vs seen a pr410 @ 600$ though.

does it sound better because it has the tweeters?
I'm not a fan of tweeters, and i'd probably turn those all the way down anyways.
the PR8X10 is ported right? but it's also 19" instead of just 16"
is it still tight and punchy?
