Ampeg Micro Cl

For christmas I recieved the ampeg micro cl mini stack and was super stoked. After ripping opening the box and grabbing my bass I was horrified to find that it wouldnt work. The fuse was good, and I checked the power chord, it was recieving power but the head wouldnt turn on. Money is tight, so I thought that maybe it was because my parents ordered me the factory restock in stead of a brand new one. I took it back to GC, and they ordered me this time a brand new one and it arrived today. Well i have the exact same problem. I called up GC, and talked to the guy I delt with last time and he couldnt believe it. Out of the many that he has sold I am the only one with a problem. My question is, does anybody here have one of these? And is there something special I need to do other than plugging it in? Thanks

Does the red light turn on when you flick on the power switch? And have you tried different wall outlets, power strips, etc?

Yea the redlight doesnt come on. Ive tried almost every outlet in my house. Also test each outlet to make sure it was putting out enough power. The power is there but the head still wont come on. Never had a problem with ampeg in the past.

That is really strange....Unless anyone else here has some ideas, I'm shot for ideas other than to once again get another exchange. Sorry you're having such a hard time with this.

my only concern now if I do get another one, is it going to last? I had an old SVT 200t that I hauled around for years and it never gave me trouble, I just got tired of the weight.

Yeah, I don't know too much about the Micro CL's. I bought a Micro VR used from a member on this site and haven't had an issues thus far.

Have you tried the amp at a different location like a friends house? If the mains voltage is too low at your house it may lock the amp out. If it works elsewhere have the power company come out and test the supply voltage, you may have a blown fuse up at the power pole.

Ill give that a try, emailed ampeg too waiting for a reply.

Took it to my fiances house and no luck, and ampeg was no help at all either, guess im shipping it back. Next time Ill have gc test it before I bring it home.

Let us know how it turns out.

You DID pay the power bill, right? ;)

Just kidding...everyone calm down!

I have the Ampeg Micro CL and luckily it's working perfectly right out of the gate. It's a very nice sounding amp. I think you should give it one more chance. Although I would insist GC express to Ampeg the customers frustration and they need to double and triple check that it's worthy. I'd tell GC they must take that amp out of the box and show you it works perfectly before you drive away.

Very weird. I've had mine for a few months, works great and has since day one, really a nice little amp.

Yep, just blew a fuse in mine tonight. After I replaced it and turned it on, the fuse immediately blew. Doubled checked all connections and what not, let it rest for a while. Attempted with a new fuse (second new fuse) and it immediately blew out again, the red light flashed and died. going to have to call Ampeg in the morning.

Sorry to hear. I just posted about having taken mine to rehearsal and how loud it got, and was thinking how good sounding and solid this little amp this is for this price range. Guess the trick is just getting a good one. Hope they take care of you.
