Ampeg Micro-CL Options I have an option of picking up a Micro-CL head for pretty cheap. I would need to buy a cab seperately. My problem is, I've only used combos and don't quite understand ohms etc. So I ask the bass amp experts, what type of cabs can I run off of the Micro-CL head? |

If not, well it's not too tricky for that one... It's 100 watts into 8 ohms, meaning it'll shoot 100 watts with an 8 ohms cab. A majority of cabs are 8 ohms, just take care not to use a 4 ohms cab. The logic with ohms is that you divide the rating instead of adding it when you use more then one cab. For example, two 8 ohms cab will give you a 4 ohms load. |

The cab was accidentally dropped out of the back of a moving van and has been cracked in more than a few places. So any cab rated to 8 ohms would work, great. What should i look for in watts? What would be the difference between a 2x10 and a 1x15. |
Don't worry about watts. Cabs don't have watts...they handle wattage, and it really doesn't matter how much it handles as long as it's more than what the head can put out. Differences between a 210 and 115? Unanswerable. You will play 210 cabs you like and hate, same with 115's. I might try to find an SVT210av since you have a Micro CL already. |
If I was in your shoes, I'd contact Ampeg and see if there's a way to get get a replacement. I read somewhere (Bassplayer mag?) that the head doesn't sound that great with a different cabinet. Either that or Jimmy's second suggestion, the 210 thing. |
Make sure the head works before you commit. |

Thanks All! The amp belongs to a friend of a friend, the head didn't take the fall, but will check it out regardless. Mastemold, how is the volume? Can it hold its own in small Jam sessions with guitars and drums? |
