Ampeg Neo Cabs-Anyone Using Them?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking at this to go with my SVT 7 Pro:

Ampeg Pro Neo Series PN-115HLF 575W 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet: Shop Bass & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

Haven't found a whole lot on the Neos.
Primary use would be for hobby-player, jamming with friends.
Nothing major or professional-level.
Any opinions about this line?
Tone?
Thanks.

S.

4x10 if your a hobby player. I matched that head with a GK Neo 4x10 rated at 800 watts. great combo.

I know, but I won't be maxing/blasting it, and it's rated at 575 watts.

The weight and price on that one are good.

A cab's rating can be misleading. I think Ampeg is pretty realistic, but I wouldn't expect the 15 to actually handle 575 watts either.

Yeah... I would run 4 15s with an SVT-7. It's got a 1000 watts to run, and that's way too much for one 15.

here's ampeg's video overview of the cab you're talking about.

I have an 7pro also and love it. I run mine through the classic 410HLF. If you aren't really cranking the amp that cab could probably handle it but i would suggest a 410 though. Are you trying to keep your rig very light weight? Do you need the cab to be NEO for that reason? Do you prefer the sound of 15's to 10's? All things you should be asking yourself. If you are worried about portability and like 15's I would suggest 2 115's.

Two of them would be a 4ohm load, which is the 7 Pro's limit.

I have all of the pro neo cabs and I can tell you that they sound great paired together or played seperately.........also I have my 7 pro paired with the pn410 and it sounds awesome........thats just my 2 cents of course!

It's only way too much if he gets out of hand with the volume knob. The amp can probably blow that driver if he turns it up too far. It is possible that, in his situation, he may never actually turn it up so loud that he'll be in danger of blowing the speaker.

I've done lots of rehearsals and casual jams with friends where I was running nothing more than a single 15 cab and 50 watt tube amp and it was more than enough. Of course, my friends may not be as loud as your friends
