Ampeg pf210 stack vs pf115 stack

Back story- I own a pf210 and an acoustic 4x10.
Lately i've been entertaining the idea of getting rid of the 4x10 to finance another pf210. However, I've come across someone selling 2 pf115 for pretty cheap. Now I would still be getting rid of the 4x10, but if I were to get the 2 15s I wouldn't really need the 210 anymore. I really like the 210 and have never played the 115s (altho they have great reviews on here).

Which would you recommend and why?

Why don't you just get the 2 pf115's and keep the pf210, this way you're extremely flexible for all kinds of situations, you could even make a nice medium rig with a pf115 and a pf210, or is that over budget? I mean look at it this way, if you got rid of the pf210 early (and you said you really liked it) and found out later that you miss it, you'd for sure be making a loss by selling and re-purchasing the same cab, not to talk about all the trouble you'll have to go through. If you like it, keep it, I learned it the hard way.

The PF115he goes a tad deeper than the PF210he and the PF210he might have a little more upper mid content. They don't sound a whole lot different but there is a little, mostly in the lows. So if you dig the low end you have now, hold out for another PF210. If you want to go lower, then get the two PF115's.

But whatever you do, don't sell anything till you hear it. Except that Acoustic cab...that you can sell

At Jimmym - I knew you would come through for this one.

That acoustic cab is going either way, but these 2 115s the person is selling basically for the price of one new.
I would have to play them first for sure, and I would probably be selling the cabs I have now after I bought these (where as I would sell the 4x10 first if I was going to get another 210).

Bear in mind that two cabs sounds mighty compared to one.

You might unfairly compare your 210 with 2 115s. See if you liike the tone of one 115 by itself before deciding.

2x 210 sound similarly all conquering compared to a single as the 2 115's compared to a single.

If you have the cash, just buy those 115's and take 'em home and see what you think. If you don't like them, you can probably re-sell them and make a few bucks, if you do like them you can sell your 210 and your 410 and you're golden. Win/win!!!

I'd get the 2) PF115s, if for no other reason than the smokin' deal ! Then get rid of the 410 and play around and see which combination I liked best. Two of the PF115s are going to sound great together but I'll tell ya, I really like my PF210 on top of my PF115. They sound terrific together. Then you could sell (or keep) whichever you decided on.

So turns out the guy had sold one of the 115s before he had contacted me back. I went and played it and liked it. Very similar to the 210 I have, so I bought it (at a deep discount, and it came with nice casters, a nice thick soft cover, and a monster speaker cable) I haven't A/B'ed them yet, but I will. I guess i'm rocking a 115/210 set up!

An offense punishable by death according to TB

more to come in the next few days as I shake the walls of my house

If it makes you feel any better, I've heard enough positive comments from folks who run them that way where I think they probably do pretty well paired up.

Subtle nuances between the two cab types but I think you'll dig 'em paired. I do.

I got some time with them earlier. I'm digging the 115. It sounds rounder/fuller than the 210, but the 210 has a nice tight sound with just a little more in the mids. Together they sound fantastic, and huge. Like you guys said, very subtle differences. I experimented with different tweeter settings and eventually turned them both off. I like the 210 with it on half when its by itself. I don't like it on at all on the 115, its too much.

I have band practice tomorrow afternoon, and I'll see how they do together in that setting.

Looking to buy a PF210 to add to my PF115 and PF 500 head. Anyone out there have this setup, and how is the sound? Also what is the best way to connect the both cabs? Thanks!

If you like the sound of your current PF115, just add a second. More of what you already know you like.
