It turned out to be something in the room. | yes thats common but when you actually search for the cause of the rattle you will find out pretty soon if its the room |

It turned out to be something in the room. | Best bet is move it outside to test it. Bring a cardboard tube to listen to different spots on the cab for rattles. That's how I found a brace that had come loose inside one of my 2x10s.

The amp is fantastic for me. I just finished a couple cabinets I'll used this weekend with a 12" and a 6" in each. They are a couple very old Peaveys that had a 12 and a piezo in each. I got them together this afternoon, and stacked, they pumped great bass with great definition...better bottom end than the four ohm 15" Kappa Pro LF with a pair of 4 1/2" speakers that I usually use. I did these cabinets cheaply using 350 watt 12's from MCM and Pyle 6" midranges, crossed over at 800Hz. I've had tremendous luck with the inexpensive MCM speakers. I bought a BUNCH of 10's they closed out a few years ago...Eminence Beta knockoffs. They outperform the Betas I have. |

The Ampeg is one of the nicest sounding amps I've ever played (for the price). I'm going to build a flightcase sooner or later so that I can carry it on my bike more efficiently! |

It has worked flawlessly throughout. It has survived beer spills, drops, and sudden thunderstorms. Yes, the cab is easy to run, and I do get PA support, but this thing has been a champ thus far. I always have my SWR working-pro 12 ready to step in, but the Ampeg has been great.

I took it outside just be sure and it was clear as day. Tightened everything with no resolve. It is coming from right behind the logo and if I apply a little pressure, it has some give. It has become enough of an issue that I have to get it addressed. First a bad head, now a bad cab. Frustrating, but at least I'm within the return period to get this all addressed. |

I am not using an amp at all these days because I run Tech21 Sansamp Programmable Bass Driver direct to the board. I will still want an amp around if I need one. Maybe one of the smaller Ampegs like the BA-112. I liked the one I used to have.

shouldnt the cab theoretically handle everything? im mean its something like 350 watts max power into a 400 watt cab ? shuoldnt be ok no matter what you do? sorry im new to the rig world Quote:

There's a thermal rating for when the voice coil will blow, which is what Ampeg's using on the newer series of cabs (though not on the Classic series cabs), but real world usage (where they start to fart out) will most often be lower, sometimes half as much. I've cranked a PF cab pretty hard and it gets quite loud indeed, but the likelihood of it taking 350w full-on without farting is not high. The good news is it can still run you out of the room. But if you're playing metal with dudes who have 412's and crank them, you might run into trouble with just one PF115he

What cab are you using? That may make a big difference.
My PF500 thru my PF210HE sounds good but just needs a little more "umph". I've hooked up the PF500 to my Ampeg PN-115 Neo and it was a different animal with plenty of girth.
