Has anyone used or own any of the Ampeg Pro Neo series?

looking at buying a 410 and 115...but no reviews except ampeg's own review.

want to know what they are like, power handling...much difference in sound compared to a 410hlf?

I have all of them and they are incredible. They sound very clean and punchy ......very modern sounding with a touch of vintage vibe. I have the410 paired with the 7pro and the pf500 paired with the 210 and 115......eventually there will be an all tube svt put with the 210 and115 .......oh yes.........

Great cabs! Made in the USA.

The PN-410HLF is almost half the weight of an SVT-410HLF and has punch and clarity not found in the SVT.

A million other TalkBass posts will tell you to stick with 2-4x10 cabs or 2-1x15 cabs and to not mix them.

Cheers!

Bass gear mag will have a review soon but I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Are the mids really present? Hi-fi tone? Big lows or more like GK NEO lows with are tight & grindy?

Great video I love the tone there, seems a little more even in the mids vs the GK Neos from what I'm hearing. Warmer in the lows vs the GK neo as well.

Really nice cab... I'll track em on Amazon & see if they go on sale... $1099 for the 410 is a tad steep but with a "good" amazon sale $700 may be possible, maybe

Very well balanced, would love to hear em in person

bassguy - do you think the SVT-7Pro and Pro Neo 410 would hold it's own up against two guitar half stacks doing the rock thing?

I also do the rock type thing with it as well.I think u will be pleasantly surprised ........u r talking about a very nice very portable setup that does a very loud 600 watts......this head and these cabs used in any configuration sound incredible because they were made to be used together.........I know these cabs r expensive but well worth it.....as visa says 1 cab =awesome. 2 cabs= priceless........btw if u can only get 1cab right now the pn410 is 60 lb and 850 watt........good luck to ya

The only issue I have with these cabs is that Ampeg still does not have official padded covers for them yet like those available for the SVT cabinet line.

I hear they are forthcoming, but the paint-and-splatter finishes on the PRO NEOs really could use the protection, especially because these cabs are indeed not cheap and are far from damage-proof.

Cheers!

Bassguy - I hear ya and I think I will be rolling with the SVT-7Pro and Pro Neo 410 soon.

Charlie C - I hear ya on the cover and the far from damage proof. Musicians Friend had (may still have) some used Pro Neo 410's on their site and I see how the bottoms/edge's get chipped and one had a nasty crack/split in the wood.

If you can't wait for Ampeg to put them out, you can order covers from several different custom cover places. Shop Amp Covers and Speaker Covers by Tuki Covers is my favorite.

+1!! If Tuki doesn't make it yet for a particular cabinet, contact them, and with your help and measurements, they will make it. Back in the day, I believe I had them make the first one for an Eden cabinet with new handle placements. They do exceptional work!

I was going to run a SVT 4 pro through a PN 410 and 115. tuned in drop C should hold the low end well with the 115, especially using the 5 strings.

any thought on the setup

unfortunatley here in Australia they have to be custom ordered from USA.

Ampeg seems to pair the different Pro Neo cabs in their YouTube vids - wouldn't two pro neo 410's be better than having the pro neo 15 on the bottom of a 410?

Absolutely. The idea that a 115 compliments the 410 is engineering by looks.

Didn't the whole 4x10 with a 1x15 start in the 80's when a fair number of amps had two discrete power amp section and a crossover? Now we're just used to seeing it and most amps no longer have a crossover.

Even WITH a crossover, the 2 cabs are still "full range", and therefore, STILL a bad pairing.

I wouldn't call it a bad pairing. Maybe less than ideal, but a butt load of music was played and continues to be played with the bad pairing.
