Ampeg Rocketbass 200 Farting Out

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a friend with an Ampeg Rocketbass 200 combo. When he plays anything below about an A on the E string, it "craps out" his words).

What could this be? I am thinking speaker, could it be the preamp tube?

If it sounds perfect on higher notes, it could be he's just over-EQing and trying to push too much low end out of it... I have the B100R and it's great, but can get pretty farty if you push it too hard (but when you're kind to it, it sounds sweet!)

As blastjv said, most likely pushing too much low end and/or volume out of it. Either turn it down and or get something louder.

+1 to both above. Lower the bass eq first, then consider more spkrs if the single 15 ain't enough.
