I have a 70s ampeg 810 (non square back) and I am wondering what the speakers would be. It has a single 1/4 inch input and is rated at 250 watts, if that helps. Also how would the Emminence Legend B810 compare to whatever speakers are in there now tone wise?

You should have the eminence square magnet speakers I believe. They were modeled after the CTS speakers in the earlier cabs as far as I know. Similarly, the new B810 speakers are designed to sound like the vintage ampeg speakers so they may be a good match for that cab if you need replacements.

the eminence speakers back then didn't sound quite as good as the cts's in the flatbacks, but they did sound excellent. b810's might be cool and will definitely handle more power, but if it ain't broke, i wouldn't fix it.

Thanks guys. The speakers are not broken but I was looking for a little power handeling as I seem to be getting too much speaker distortion. I also have 4 cts speakers lying around that I am not currently using. How would combining the CTS with the b810s sound you think?

soundwise they'd be great i'm sure, but once you stick one of those old 70's speakers in there, whether eminence or cts, it becomes your limit for power handling. if you want more power, put all b810's in it. i've heard enough good stuff about the b810 that i'm sure it will work excellently both tonally and power handling-wise.
