Ampeg SVT 7 Pro - Great amp, sounds good, very light. 800 bucks roughly.

Ampeg Portaflex PF-500 - Compression, good preamp, very versatile. 400 bucks roughly.

No way I would drop 1000 bucks on an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro. It doesn't sound enough like a SVT for me. The Micro VR at 300 bucks or less is a much better sounding amp, but not good for that scooped slap tone. SVT 3 Pro isn't really either without tweaking the amp to make it sound scooped.

Take the price tag off the amp. Buy what sounds good regardless of price.

way better out there for the $$ than the 3Pro.
get a GK1001 if you like a snappy, aggressive tone

I dig the 3Pro, but same here I wouldn't pay $1000 for it new. I paid $800 for mine new, and I was kicking myself later because I see them selling used for $400-$500.

Take his advice though, go by sound rather than price tag. Personally I like Ampeg amps through Ampeg cabs.

also yeah i'm not trashing the 3Pro, i've had 3x of them as transition amps, but for around $400-500 is more like it.
and you can get a new GK1001 for a little bit more than that, if a tight "slap" tone is what you're after.

The 1001 might make your 15 behringer cab turn to dust though lol now that a reread your post. The 700RB is a little bit warmer of an amp with less wattage. Still great for punchy slap tone.

RMC Audio used to have the best prices on these, by a long shot.

The Backline stuff isn't even in the same league as the real GK line. With kind of budget no way you should even consider it.
Good luck w/ that GK they're great amps. If I weren't playing Mesa I'd have an 1001 or 2001 no doubt.
