Ampeg SVT that *isn't* Ampeg....

Wondering if anyone makes a truly hand-wired, hand-built Ampeg-type SVT amp.

I know the heritage B15N is hand-wired, but I'm taking SVT, not B15N

The only one I know of is Divided by 13....

Any others?

FWIW, I'm going to start working on a 200 watt all-tube version of my preamp in the new year. It has an SVT sort of vibe (IMO). If I can get a chassis big enough, I'll do a 400 watter at some point.

If you do a 400 watter you'll start getting calls from me late at night asking when it'll be done.

It would help to know what it is that you don't like about the SVT.

Oh....I like the SVT, and I have 2. Just wondered if I could get a fully hard-wired/hand-wired version. Why? Why does a man climb a mountain?

Just curious, but would like to purchase a point-to-point version if I can......

I don't think I could take the price of a P2P hand wired SVT. I figure PCB's were good enough for my 69 SVT, they're good enough now

He didn't ask for point to point though, hand wired, like your 69 SVT, is what he's apparently after.

Basically, as Mammothsounds says, get an SVT, open it up, take it apart, put it back together using your hands: handwired SVT.

Really point to point?

Or would you be happy with turret/tag/eyelet board hand wired?

I read in Tonequest magazine, years ago, that it was exactly the sum of the parts that made those amps sound like they did. If you change them, they won't sound like an SVT. They could sound better or worse.

So you're looking for a hand wired amp that sounds like an SVT? Or just any hand wired amp?

A hand wired amp that *is* or is *similar* to an SVT. The Meat Smoke amp (previously mentioned in this thread), is a perfect example of what I mean......any others? Again, as I mentioned, Divided by 13 TBL200 is another amp. But, any others??

What kinda sound is the Reeves 225/400? Are the Reeves amps in the Ampeg SVT territory?
