Ampeg SVT 100

I have a rather rare, so I have been told, Ampeg SVT 100, a 100 watt SVT amp. Any experience or opinions? I purchased it some time ago from an original owner, along with a very heavy Ampeg 410 cab.

Definitely a rare bird. IIRC they were build with leftover V4 parts when MTI bought Ampeg prior to the introduction of the V5 line. From what I've read it should be running 6550s with an SVT-style pre-amp, so slightly different from the V series amps.

All correct. It was the very first product St. Louis Music made with the Ampeg name. They were supposed to be guitar amps, but SLM discovered that they weren't very good, but with a couple tweaks they were good little bass amps, so that's how they were marketed, and they sold out pretty quickly apparently. If I'm not mistaken, it was a single run of 100.

Yep, that's about the story on them.

if I have any info on them at all, it is probably hard copy. They were quickly a thing of the past......
