ampeg svt 2 pro loud buzzing problem

Sign in to disble this ad
hey can anyone help ive just bought a second hand svt 2 pro head i attached it to a cabinet and turned it one to here this incredibly loud hiss !! this noise doesnt change no matter wot way the volume/gain knobs are set tried changing cab still exactly the same

ive looked into the bias apparently bias 1 and bias 2 LED's are supposed to be green if it is working properly i have bias 2 at green but can only get a red at bias 1

Now to complicate it further the guy i bought this amp of said it was working before the courier lifted it however none of the LED's on the bias were lit when i first turned it on i had to adjust it first which i shouldnt of had to do unless i replace the tubes!!

also if i turn both bias controls down the hiss goes away nearly completely so its obviously a tube problem and im very new to tube amps so could someone help me please

When you buy a used tube amp, a trip to an amp tech should be figured in as standard, even if there are no problems. In this case, the amp tech is the ONLY answer.

+1. Blame the shipper is a standard excuse for some.
