Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, the Gene Simmons "Punisher" version of the Ampeg 2x15 cabinet.....anybody know what model of JBLs are used in them? Can't find any info on them to speak of. I came across an unloaded 2x15 and thought a clone might be in order.

The Simmons cab came with a pair JBL M151-8's. Those drivers are hard to come by. I've been looking for a pair for years and havn't found a set for sale yet. If you are looking for another JBL option, you might want to check out johnk's JBL comparison thread which has some nice audio samples. Of the samples he has posted, the K140 sounds most like my Simmons rig, but just to note; the M151-8 has a smooth cone, not ribbed.

Vintage 15" JBL comparisons w/soundclips

My #1 LGS with PF500

Stiles,
What is the bass there on your rack that looks like the Punisher, atleast the white pinstriping but looks like it has a ibanez head stock? Just curious is all. Do you have any pics?

One is a stock '99 SR-885 Soundgear, the other is a '94 SR-505FL Soundgear. I just added white pin striping that I got from autozone.

Pinstripping looks pretty cool, as much of it that I can see. Does stay in place or do you need to replace it every so often? Reason I ask is cause I always liked the look of white binding on a black bass or black on a red or white bass. Might be something to try in the future.
