Ampeg SVT 3 pro setup

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay, so i've got an SVT 3 pro with an Ampeg SVT410HE, and i've had it for afew months, and love it!

I love the tone i currently have, but I have been listening to alot of skate punk and 90's rock in general, and the bass in most of the bands i listen to is so nice, and i wanna get a similar tone from my SVT 3 rig, and my PBass with 1/4 seymour duncans.

If you listen to the bass at the start of that song, you will get a good idea of what sort of tone i am looking for.

I don't mind buying some pedals or whatever i need to get this tone, i just really want this kindof tone!

Can anyone help with this? would be hugely appretiated!

IMO, more of this tone comes from the bass itself than the amp. Use a pick, and turn the tone knob on the P-bass all the way up.

On the amp, turn off the graphic EQ, and crank the tube gain to about 1:00.
Cut the bass to about noon, start with mids at 1:00, with the Frequency select set at #3. Turn your treble to about 2:00. Set your gain so the red light starts to flicker with every note. Disengage the ultra lo and ultra high.

I never use a bright and defined tone like this from my 3-Pros, so this is just a starting point for you. Tweak it with your ears from there...

Okay, so i've put these settings in and they sound nice, i've tweaked it to suit more, and it sounds nice. Any way I can get the graphic EQ involved? would a compression pedal help at all? Will making every note reach the peak affect the amp in anyway?
