Ampeg svt 3 rack case question

I'm putting my Svt3 in a rack case and want to put
it on the very bottom so it's supported by the floor
of the case in addition to the screws on the rail. It
doesn't quite fit. Is it not a good idea to take the 4
feet off of the amp to make it work? The bottom of
the amp would be laying on the wood of the case?

your correct, taking the feet of the bottom of the amp is a bad idea. It will cause poor air circulation and can over heat. If you can raise it just a bit off of the bottom of the rack case or I have seen a small computer fan attached to the back of the case to blow air around, that might work.

Taking the feet off will be fine. The fan and side vents on the 3-Pro are more than adequete to keep it runing cool.

I agree with Stiles72 - having the amp rest on the bottom of the case isn't going to cause the amp to overheat due to poor air circulation. The amp has vents on the side and rear, and has a fan to move the air. I gigged for over 4 years with a rack-mounted SVT3 Pro on the bottom of the rack with the feet removed - never overheated once.

Take the feet off and rack it. That's what I did; never gave me a problem and the rack I had did not have much vent space. It still never overheated ever. The feet are there for use when your not racking; mostly so the amp will not slide around on your cabinet.
