Ampeg SVT 300 Power amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey

I'm trying to find information about this power amp but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I'm thinking about trading my current Svt-350H for it and put about $300 inbetween, is it worth it?

And is it any good, to me, 300w ampeg tube can't go wrong, but does anyone know?

Searching for SVT 300 here will get you a bit of info but its basically just the power section from the older SVT-II non-pro model. You'll find lots of loyal fans and info on that model searching here. Ampeg sold a preamp called the SVT-IIp that you could find used to end up with a 5 rack space SVT-II.

A nice SVT 300 seems to be worth somewhere in the $700 to $800 range, If the one your considering is in descent shape I think you'd be making an awesome swap.

It's a poweramp only, and you'd need a preamp to make it work, but otherwise, it's 300 watts of Ampeg.

The manual is the same for the II and the 300. If you want a PDF of it, just PM me.

I've tried searching but since you can't use " " or + typing watt and ampeg gets tons of answers.

I'm going to try it out next weekend, only problem is that the tubes aren't the standard ones, some JJ Labs model.

I'm going to run my Sansamp BDDI in to it, should work, I'm currently bypasing the preamp on the SVT-350h, the Sansamp just sounds better (for distorted bass, entomed etc.)

300W of ampeg tube power is juicy and crazy loud.

However, I can see at least two cons:

--It will be heavy

--You might end up with preamp GAS (although the sansamp should work just fine.)

That's not really cons.

I'll get a work out and I get GAS is always fun!
