Ampeg SVT 4 and 410 cab questions

Sign in to disble this ad
A local music store has a huge March s sale every year. I was trolling through the ad and they are selling Ampeg SVT 4 Pro heads for $379 and SVT410HE cabs for $179. I think this is a pretty screaming deal. I checked out some reviews of the head and they seemed great. Same with the cabs.

I am gonna check out the head this week before the sale to see if i like it.I like that it has a 9 band EQ and a tube preamp. My Sunn Coli 300 has a 7 band EQ and I can really dial in the low end with the highs.
My question is: Would using 2 of the SVT410HE cabs sound as good as a 810 "fridge"? Would there be much of a difference or would it be night and day? It seems to me that obviously it would easier to haul as it breaks in half unlike an 8x10 and the cabs are supposedly made for that reason. Any insight?

The way i see it , getting a decent new Ampeg rig for under $800 is a pretty good deal either way!

to me, they're about the same except for the tweeter.

however, the 4 pro goes for $1450 new and the cabs go for $650. that price is way too good, though...too good to be true. i would be very wary before i plunked down dollar one.

Try before you buy, because those prices would be really good for used equipment...

The SVT 4 Pro goes for around $800 on TalkBass.

The only thing is that you might want to get another 410 cab to run that beast!! If you do it will drop it down to 4 ohms which is what the svt 4 pro is generally good to run at!!

A new 4 Pro for $379? If that's true give me their number, they're about to make a sale.

Two 410HE are just about the same as an 810E, yes.
