EDIT: Not working at the moment, I think. Anyway, 5th digit of the serial is a letter that corresponds to year made:
1988 = A
1989 = B
1990 = C
etc.

I think I might have at least cracked the year designation for LOUD, but I can't get to my Micro VR stuff right now to tell you what it is for sure.

Where it is made now, I have no idea, but I imagine much of it is made in china, simply because you cannot buy some of the parts anywhere else these days, at least at a competitive price. In some cases not at all, the chinese will not sell those parts, only products.

The main reason I ask is that my head was built in 08/2005 and is listed as D (domestic), so I'm wondering where this bad mammajamma came together.

At that point Loud was just a few months into the picture, and hadn't done much in the way of mass firings at SLM yet.

I heard he went to Behringer and wanted to find out if that was true, but that turned out to be a rumor. I looked him up and found his Linkedin page, and he's working at some company that provides efficiency experts to large corporations. I guess there are enough smooth running companies that need to get ruined through excessive beancounting to keep a guy like that pretty busy
