Ampeg SVT-4 Pro connection with BBE preamp
What is the correct way to connect the SVT-4 Pro with the BBE Bmax preamp? At the rear panel of the Ampeg there are lots of inputs & outputs. I read the user manual but I confused!
I use the Ampeg with an Ampeg SVT 410HLF Heritage cabinet.
The cab is 500W RMS and the amplifier is 1600W at mono-bridged mode and 625W when I use only channel A.
So I think it's safer to use the 625W.
So, how should I connect the external preamp BBE to the amplifier with an external loop?
Bass into preamp main input, preamps output to Ampegs Effects Return.
I wouldn't go defeating the internal pre with a BMax. BMax is a decent enough pre, but it's not as good as the one in the 4 Pro IMHO. But what Ricken said is how you do it.
get a plain old BBE, stick in your effects loop, and be amazed ! I never touch my tone controls to match a room anymore. I found a spot for them all that I like, and I just twiddle with the BBE to "match" myself to the room acoustics
