Ampeg SVT-4 Pro question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in the market for an Ampeg svt4. I've played two used ones so far and both made a loud popping sound when engaging the mute and ultra high buttons. Is this normal? The other svt models I've played didn't do this.

They might for a short time when first turned on.

they also might if you switch the switches while playing.

other than that, neither one should make a pop of any significance.... both have discharge resistors to prevent it, in fact.

The mute can pop if the mute FET is leaky. Dunno about ultra-high, it's pretty straight-forward, and shouldn't pop. leaky capacitor can do it, but two pop problems on one amp is somewhat of a co-incidence..
