Ampeg SVT-5

I recently picked up an Ampeg SVT-5 head because I needed some extra headroom on big festival stages this summer. I really like it. It is basically the old SVT-4 touring standard, but instead of the graphic EQ it's got a drive channel.

I'm the kind of guy that gets different tones by swapping basses from gig to gig, song to song, session to session, with different strings and that ya know. I've been basically turning the bass and treble knob to 1:00 and the mid to 11:00 and using the headroom to louden me, which works really great. But, I'm also a pedal junkie and I've been kind of underwhelmed with the flavor of the drive channel. I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Anybody have any thoughts? I got the head used without a manual, so maybe I'm "doing it wrong!!" Ha ha.
