I recently had a thread on here comparing the SVT 4 against the SVT 7, but in the meantime I've come across the SVT 6 for sale in a store in the UK that was used as a demo head in the shop. It's recently been fully serviced and being sold at the same price as a brand new SVT 7. Is it worth taking a chance on it?

i had a 6 pro.. it did a flame job on me, and personally i found it to be my least favorite of the pro line tone wise.

And I had a 6Pro, US made, and thought it was the best of the line. Mine also never gave me trouble, just great tone at high volume.

All the SVT Pro amps are very good man. You hear about all these people having problems with them but i've had 2 2 pros and 1 4 pro and have never ever had a seconds trouble with any of them. After I ordered my 4 pro, i read all these horror stories online about them overheating and shutting down etc, but it was 100% reliable always.

I would go would go with the 6 PRO.

More tubes, and its list price was a lot higher than the 7 PRO, so both being at the same price its not Bad.

Hmm might be worth picking this up then. The only thing thats swaying the 7 pro for me is the weight and headphone out.

This heating problem is getting me worried a little, having just brought the 6 pro, having installed in a rack case im thinking shall i have some breathe holes drilled in the side to help out on the over heating ???? im really happy with its sound, possibly the best ive ever had !,,,,runs thru a 4x10 ampeg and use the ibanez grooveline 5 stringer.
