Ampeg SVT Blueline Club, 68 to early 70's.

Thought it may be a good idea to get these amps altogether, getting everything in files etc, easier I suppose for new searcher's to get straight there, so here goes.

It's a 1970 with all original valves, Tungsol 6550's, 12DW7 Mullard's and GE 12BH7's, very little use and showing no signs of anything needing attention, that's 40 years , awesome. I've gone through the whole thing and found dates ranging from 6/69 to 48th wk 70 on the pot's and serial number is 102xxx. Notice the number 40 on the pre amp, the matching 40 is just behind the input transformer on the chassis.

I really love playing through this baby and always get so much interest at gigs, but have always been jealous of JimmyM's stencil's on his and those 6146b's of course.

Looks like a cool club to join... If I was into clubs. But I'm not :-). Could have had an SVT Blueline head but after comparing it to my '78 SVT (which sounded better) I decided not to do it. And a few 100 bucks extra just for blue letters and numbers... not my style. I did buy the straightback cab. That thing sounded HEAPS better than my 78 8x10.

Have fun overhere!

My camera is not working, but I have Lee Rockers old 76' SVT! I need some repairs on it though: pots, switches are crackling.

no serial number

Hey. I just had a question about my SVT. I'll post pics soon. I have an old SVT blueline (6146 tubes w/relay etc.) with no serial number in the chassis. There is a number on the right side of the black plate that has the silk screening on it but that's it. I was wondering if this could've been one of the original prototypes. It also has a #4 with a circle around it on the inside casing. I'm sure this is one of the earliest ones made but can it be that this one was made before they even went on the market?

Got around to taking my photos today! Here is my old SVT WITH tube relay, 6146b's and a straight back (73, i think) Ampeg 8x10. Also in the photo is my trusty 1974 P-bass.

Did some of the earliest versions of the SVT have a detachable power/AC cable? I've came across two in recent years that had this. Was this something from the factory or a later mod? Both heads I've seen had the same style of connector.

any detachable cord is a mod. mine has one, too. not a biggie...i'd rather live than keep it stock

rawdogg, not sure about the serial. mine's missing too, along with the original back plate.
