Ampeg SVT CL Bias Lights

Sign in to disble this ad
I noticed while playing through my Ampeg SVT CL, that both the red and green light stay on continuously. I can't say I've noticed that before, but I normally don't walk behind the amp while I'm playing. I read in the owner's manual that this would indicate the tubes may be receiving too much power.

The owner's manual said if both red and green lights are illuminated all the time (I'm assuming this means when a signal is present), it should be "checked by a qualified technician".

Should I try to adjust the bias before I do anything else to see if I can get the red lights to appear only when I'm playing. Currently, they don't change whether I'm playing or not. They just stay on continuously (no blinking).

Again, thanks in advance for your help.

It's normal for both lights to be on and flickering when your playing, just bias your amp so the green light is on when there is no signal, make sure the amp is connected to your speaker cabinetwhen the amp is switched out of stand=by
