Ampeg SVT-CL praise club!

Sign in to disble this ad
Well maybe not exactly a club, but could be if you want to!

Anyways, svt cl is not getting enough love around here. At most it's "decent" and its brother VR picks up all the praise and worship.

Well not anymore! Here we give our love to the SVT-CL, the bastard child that's supposedly the classic ampeg sound, but the reality is somewhat different.

the cl has the classic ampeg sound. the only difference is it feels just a tad less open and restricted compared to the vr. hard to describe in words but you can feel it when you use it. however, it's still a great amp and i've used them many times onstage.

I'd have thought you'd have started this thread.

I'm no nooner, I'm not afraid to twist the tone knobs on my CL. I don't know from restricted, but I can get a nice wide range of tones from mine.

restricted probably wasn't the right word...maybe slightly compressed would have been better.

Hey, I'm in. I have been playing through an SVT-CL for a couple years. Upright with my rockabilly band, Jazz bass with my blues band, and a P Bass for good measure. I've posted a couple times in other threads and absolutely love the CL. My main gigging rig and that probably won't change...unless I find a screaming deal on a VR ;-)

Nice!

I really dig Mic's tone (and lines) on Neverender show:
