AMPEG SVT II PRO humming buzz sound?!?

Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys i just bought a SVT 2 pro (1990's) and it sounds amamzing. i run it through my ampeg 610's as well as through the main. the amp is in a road case that include a cooling fan, korg tuner and a furman power conditioner. but the problem is that there is a loud buzzing sound that comes out of the main speakers from my bass channel. it doesnt come out of the speakers, only the house. any ideas as to what the problem is? oh and i have tried turning off all of the idividual compenents in the road case an no luck.

Does the "SVT" 2 pro have a ground lift switch on the DI? Could also have a bad XLR cable going to the board.

Even without any symptoms, I'd recommend taking it to a tech for a checkup. The thing is about 20 years old, now - it's time. And that head deserves the TLC.

I just took my SVT II -P (preamp version of your head) in for service. One input jack was bad (which was inconveniently causing a loud hum when nothing was plugged in). He fixed that and touched up a bunch of cold solder joints, all for about $60.
