Almost two years since I got mine and I still haven't bought covers for them. The vast majority of damage I've had to them have come from onstage mishaps, like tilting a cab back too far, or from having to move my rig to accommodate others on the stage and forgetting to unplug the speaker wires. So personally I will continue to cheap out

As for the speakons, it's a cool mod, but one I don't personally find necessary since speakons only become a safety issue when using amps with 500w or more. Still, it's a cool and easy mod so nothing against it.

I use a walkabout most of the time now, which only has 1/4" outputs, but I will probably do the mod mainly because I like custom length speaker cables, and speakons are much easier to reterminate. 1/4" out to the walkabout, then speakon into the cab.
Eric uses a flamethrower of an amp in the past, so speakon makes sense for him probably.

Yeah, my "small" rig is a GK MB800, and my big rig is a VT Deluxe driven by my trust 'ol QSC 3002..... and the 210AV's eat them up.

I got to use all 3 cabs last night with a fill in band that actually uses way more stage volume than my band does. I was on 3 with the master of the walkabout and it just lit the place up. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get loud enough, but I had a ton to spare. I have no idea how much, but more than I will ever use. I didn't use the vertically, but stacked them up just so you can see how tall 3 are. I'm 6'1".

love the sound

I played through the VR/210AV mini stack and LOVED the tone. It's all about the sound, I don't care about the power handling, XMAX, ported/sealed, whatever.
If you like the sound of an Ampeg 810 paired with a big tube head, this comes close and it's perfect for rehearsals, parties and small gigs. It's plenty clear with pronounced mids and just enough depth (IMO).
Good price too. If you buy two of them for larger gigs, you might want to consider a different head like the PF-500, but the VR head will drive two of them fairly well (Bass Gear did it).
Looks cool two.

When I use two, I usually use the PF350 just to have the headroom. Used that rig on my gig tonight and will be using it all weekend as well. Yes, I know I'm supposed to be a raging tube snob, but sometimes the schlep even gets to me

I know this is probably sacrilege here, but I just can't dig the vintage silver grill cloth. So I decided to experiment and change one to the current Ampeg black cloth.

I bought enough black cloth from Fliptops to do both cabs, but wanted to try just one cab first to make sure it was what I really wanted to do. I was careful removing the 1,000 staples so that I can re-install the original cloth if I want.

Interesting, I know they sell a micro "classic" 2x10 cab that looks this way but with piping, but it is VERY cheap and doesn't use the same speakers and have the same awesome construction of the 210av series.

Hmmmmm.........

Doesn't look bad at all. And yeah, you're right about the Micro CL cab, plus it's not available separately from the head. Great little rig for $350, though.

Enough to do three of these cabs was about $35. I only needed two but I thought I might screw up the first time. Turns out, it was pretty easy doing such a small grill. Pulling out the old staples took LOTS of time, though.

After staring at them all day in my home office, I think I'm preferring the black so I'm going to do the other cab tonight.

Just $300 now with the $50 rebate.

And yes it's a great practice amp (just got one) but surprisingly loud, at least I was surprised. Haven't tried it with the band but suspect it might hold up as much as the Mirco-VR. Of note, the amp doesn't do clean. There's no gain but it appears it's tuned for mild distortion to try and emulate SVT overdrive, and I guess it works well enough because I like it.

Interesting...another dude on another thread was asking about that.

The Micro VR head is available separately. The Micro CL head isn't.
