The Walkabout's 300w @ 4 ohms, ur SVT's same.....
The TH500 is very cool, don't like the GB STL at all myself, but apart from the Walkabout, an Orange BT500 is, imho, closest to ur tonal preferences & very loud. It's able to get brighter than the Aggy, still sounds tubey & nicely crunchy.

The TH500's wonderful, but has that very muted top end, an SVT has a "normal" top & the BT500's more like it.

so... i'm looking for a new amp (not getting rid of my SVT) that i could pair with the 210av's and also use as a backup for my 100 pounder. I'm sure i just need to go try everything but i would love some of your input/experience with the lighter weight micro stuff out there these days.

so far from researching these threads i'm pretty interested in the TH500, Streamliner600 or possibly the Walkabout but i'm not sure it would have enough power for my needs. Size wise, these all look like they would fit on top of 1 of the 210's pretty nicely as well.

i know i won't be able to replicate the sound of my big guy but i would love to get as close as possible!

thanks
I've been using the TH500 with these cabs. A nice, hard hitting combo. It sits on top and stays with no problem but it tilts up a bit. The front feet hook on the handle. It looks very nice on top.

Tried the walkabout briefly. Also nice sounding, but it wouldn't stay on top without some help.

Just traded the walkabout for a streamliner. Works well together. I've been a/b'ing with the TH and they actually sound similar through these cabs except the STM seems to have a more lively feel to it. Subtle. I'm not sure how to describe it. Maybe it's the extra top end. The distortion with the gain pushed is cool. Also looks good on top.

I originally tried a PF500. It sounded great but it had a cutting out problem so I sent it back.

Hmmmdo you have a pic or link to one? Do you mean an aluminium backing? I'm in Nashville so I'm sure it can be done.

I use the streamliner 900 with a pair of the 210 avs and it's plenty loud for even large outdoor gigs. My other rig is a SVT-VR and 810 but the stm really cops that svt sound in a small package. I swapped the rubber feet out for a little bit taller set and the stm clears the handle on the 210.

thanks for the posts guys, this is great.

drean2304- i've read that the Streamliner is picky about what cabs they like. have you tried it with your 810? good to know about swapping out the feet.

nutdog- yeah, i love my ampeg but the cutting out issues talked about here with the pf-350/500's would make me very nervous. i have a tendency to "dig in" a little and having a head cut out in the middle of a song would be unacceptable.

rodl2005- i know the walkabout is 300w but the SVT can be pushed well beyond the rated 300w i believe.. is that correct?

thanks again

I have used streamliner with 810 LOUD. I definitely had to roll off the lows but I don't drag it around much anymore.

Look at JBL or Altec drivers center caps. That is how they extended "high frequencies". Ask at live sound companies in your area, they either repair themselves or have a vendor they can offer.

I've used a PF350 w/my 2x210av stack for about a year now and have never had an issue, nor had a need for more volume. Very SVT sounding AND feeling. Throw a nice compressor in there for some tube "breathe", and your there with a one trip load in!
Love mine!

I have never had a single issue with my PF350 after a year and a half. That's what I use with my 210av's.

Look at the center of the speakers in the cab. The silver domes are what I am talking about (those are Altec 421A's).

Jimmy & Johno- would that be a good backup for my SVT as well? figured it wouldn't move enough air.. i'm totally fine with being wrong though! the bands i play in can be pretty loud.

Wes- i would love to hear the walkabout with the cabs. would probably have to be a buy then try kind of thing i would suspect. could also run 3 210av's with it too looks like?!

Don't let my Pavlovian comment keep you from trying out the ampeg micro's. I have it on good authority that I just didn't know how to set the gain knob.

Seriously, a variety of their micros had that issue but they seem to have worked it out. I would, however, make sure that any one I bought used was thoroughly vetted.

As I said, it sounded great and the ampeg aficionados say it's very SVTish.

Edit: The amps will move air. If you are in a loud band the cabs will probably be the limiting factor.

You could actually run 4 8ohm cabs on a walkabout
