Ampeg SVT210AV Speaker Impedance (Individual Speakers Themselves) Question...

Sign in to disble this ad
Can someone confirm for me the impedance of the individual speakers in the 'Micro' SVT 210AV cabinets? I seem to remember hearing that they were 4 ohm speakers wired in series for an 8ohm cabinet. I want to know if I could rewire one of these to be a 2 ohm cab I could use with my SVT-VR without any impedance mis-match issues.....

I suppose you could...they are 4 ohm speakers wired in series. Not seeing the point of it, but OK.

Just an abundance of caution regarding putting my SVT-VR through it at 8ohms...

For the volume you can take one cab upto, 8 ohms won't be a problem for the amp. Buy another cab, use the 4 ohms and get to a decent volume.

That's a good point. Running an SVT at 8 ohms at a volume the 210av can handle likely won't hurt it at all.

I'm really tempted about getting a PF350 with a SVT210AV.
I'm no expert on electronics and all that stuff, so I have a doubt:
Would the 210AV (which holds up to 200watts at 8ohm) be compatible with the PF350 (which goes up to 350watts at 4ohm)?

Thank you!

Sure. The head puts out 250w at 8 ohms, a little more than the cab can handle, so you'll have to watch your volume but it'll work fine as long as you use good sense and turn down if you hear the cab struggling.

thank you very much!!
I think I'll go for the PF350 and the 210AV and maybe in the future add another 210AV
Thank you, again!

That's about what I figured. This would be for recording only, and would only be pushed enough to get the speakers sounding good, so I'm sure it would be fine. Like I said, just being overly cautious.....
