Ampeg SVT215E + JBL D140F speakers

The original speakers are said to be blown. The old JBL's have been on my to-try list for a decade and this seems like a perfect opportunity to give 'em a shot. I'm sure it will sound at least "ok" but I wonder about the speakers with the design of the cab. It might not be optimal, but do you foresee any big issues with this combination?

The only thing I'd say is D140's don't take a lot of power. If you need more, I'd go with a K140 instead. Otherwise they should work great.

My go to cab since '99 has been an Ampeg LGS-215LE (Gene Simmons model). The only differences between the Simmons and the SVT-215E was the grill cosmetics and the drivers. The Simmons came with JBL M151-8's, (300 watts each). Compared to the standard SVT-215E, the Simmons cab has just a touch more articulation and goes just a little deeper to my ears. Not sure what the D-140's are rated at for wattage, but I would bet they would sound pretty sweet in that cab. I'd probably look at the K-140's for my purposes playing in a hard rock project.

My PF500 & Simmons cab:

That Gene Simmons cab is actually what inspired this whole ordeal. I'm getting this 2x15 for a pretty reasonable price and remembered the GS had JBL's in it (I played one many years ago while on tour with a band called 137). I thought they were the K140's for some reason and got to researching and saw that the D140F's were very similar. I'd probably stick with the K140's though for the better power handling.

A pair of JBL's, some silver paint, and a metal grill and you're all set

I did go ahead and pick up the M-151-8's. I won't get to check them out until I get back from Germany though.

The deal on the cab fell through...kinda shady there anyways. So I'm trying to find another cab to put them in. Any suggestions on that?
