Aguilar is better IMO... really good cab IMO

But that's because I don't like HLF cabs and find them to sound muddy .

It's up to you. They sound very different, so let your ears decide.

DB410. If only it had ports on the front.

I have played through them both, and the Aggies are overpriced whereas the Ampegs are everywhere for good reason. They are heavy cabs, but the tone is undeniable. Granted, some think the Chinese production with Ampeg is suspect, but I have heard they haven't missed a beat.

Aguilar makes one of the best cabs IMO. DB cabs should be an excellent companion to SVT-CL. HLF is a little but muddy, but if it is going to be your gig rig in a rock back then it will do the trick.

I'd would say that HLF is winning the poll simply because it's easier and cheaper to get and more guys have it, which doesn't mean that it's better.

I've been using the HLF in a hard rock band for years. One of my favorite cabs. Never played that particular Aguilar.

Personally, I think the Aguilar DB410 is a much better match--in fact, I own one and run my Ampeg V-4B through it. The tight low end and mid-forward nature of the cab work really well with a tube head. The 410HLF (which I've played through, though not with a tube head) would probably be too boomy with that head, IMO.

People reflexively voting for the brand without indicating if they even have any knowledge of the 410HLF's tonal characteristics--well, I don't understand them.

SVT410HLF Owner - Covers all gigs in all places including open air. Never boomy! Moves a lot of air and when set up correctly the clarity of the mids and highs is backed up by feeling the bottom end as well as hearing it. I run mine flat from the guitar and flat on the amp. Needs a powerful clean amp to drive it.

The 410hlf is an ok cab, but not as nice as the aggie. I doubt I would spring for a 410hlf new. There are plenty on the used market for cheap. If you are after the better cab, it would be the aggie. Of course, you are looking at more coin for it. With the svt-cl you mentioned that you'd be using, I think I'd favor the aggie as the low end will be more controlled. The 410hlf can get boomy when paired with an amp with a big low end. With a tightly voiced amp the 410 hlf works nicely. I really like the tone of my fretless J through a thunderfunk into a 410hlf. When I used a thicker sounding bass, warwick streamer LX6, the 410hlf sounded muddy IMHO.

BIG +1

I've played both for a while (and currently own a DB410) and I'd have to say that the Aggie beat out the 410HLF in my opinion. Much more present in the mid-range frequencies than the Ampeg to my ears. I liked the Ampeg, don't get me wrong (playing it with an 810E is MONSTROUS). But they are different animals.

My only trepidation about using the DB410 by itself is not having the cabinets up near my head for stage monitoring. Thats why I throw a DB115 underneath.

Oh, and I currently run the Aggies with an SVT-II-PRO if that helps.

Ok well I finally just hooked up a cl to a 410hlf and I'm not impressed at all. Its boomy as all hell and honestly sounds pretty sloppy. I had the bass on the amp dialed back to about 10'oclock and it was still boomy with a pbass. Now I'm thinking the db410 might be my cab

Then rock the db410 all night long!
