Ampeg SVT450H + Fender Rumble 410

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering if the Fender Rumble 410 will meet the specs of the Ampeg SVT450H. I dont know much about ohms and so on. But I saw the Rumble 410 has 1000 Watts at 4 ohm and my Ampeg bass head is 275W at 8 ohm and 450W at 4 ohm. So that has to work without any problem at all I guess ? Can anyone confirm that ? Also saw the Rumble is pretty cheap. Is it really good for being that cheap or whats the catch ?

No problem. If your Fender 410 is a 4 ohm cabinet, your Ampeg SVT450H will be pushing 450 watts into it. Although your cabinet is rated to handle up to 1000 watts, if you're running 450 watts into it you're not "under powering" the cabinet. I've run a 180 watt head into an Avatar 410 cabinet rated for 1,000 watts without any issues. Good luck Rico!

Oh, also... I run an Ampeg SVT1000 into an Avatar 410 Neo rated for 1000 watts. So my Ampeg is similar to your 450H, it's just the 1000 watt version. It runs fine, sounds great. The one thing you want to avoid is using two 4 ohm cabinets with your Ampeg. That would create a 2 ohm load and your amp is not designed to go below 4 ohms.

Right, with a 4 ohm 410, you cannot add another cab to that amp. Though, most likely, you won't need to. That's why it's always best to buy an 8 ohm cab. It'll be just as loud, (almost), as the 4 ohm cab, but with the possibility of adding a 2nd cab for serious volume increase.

I think "under powering" doesn't exist...

if it exists the cabs will break or damage when you don't touch the strings of your bass.

What would you suggest when purchasing a big cab such as 810, 412, 215? 4 ohm or 8 ohm?

That's as good as any logic about the underpowering myth as I've heard. Made me LOL!

Most of those big cabs will be 4 ohm, and that's fine.
