I gigged with the SVP and a Crest Audio LT1000 pushing 1600 watts into an 810AV.

It sounded massive. All the headroom you could ask for. But dial up the gain on the preamp and you're in SVT 2 territory. I also remember never needing to turn the power amp past halfway no matter where we played. It was a loud rig.

I've had trouble finding another SVP so I bought the Pro 4 instead. However it won't be here until Monday so I can't compare them yet.

I'd go with the SVP Pro. More tonal options.

That depends on your tonal/volume needs. What cab would you be running through? A v4 can be loud, but it will likely distort fairly quickly. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what kind of sound you want.
