Ampeg SVT7 Pro Bass Guitar Amplifier Head want the King's X Sound what to add?

Hi fellow bass players I am new to this site and have some questions:
I've been playing bass now for over 28 years and want to get a different sound all-together

I have this new Ampeg SVT7 Pro Bass Head and have a Peavy 4x10 cab and I want to get that Doug Pinnick sound so I heard that adding a Bi-amp and maybe a Mesa Boogie head for the distorted sound is the way to go but any suggestions would be appreciated.

You'll find some information on dUg's rig here...

Doug Pinnick Bass Rig: A Pic

Essentially the best way is to run two rigs, one with massive lows with all the high end rolled off, and one with just mids & highs with overdrive or distortion.

FWIW, I recently added a VT Bass to my pedal board and using it in conjunction with my BDDI using the settings in the image below, I'm able to get fairly close to this tone...

dUg gets his sound by combining SVT/810e's with guitar amps into 810e's. Don't know what he uses now but he was using Fender Dual Showmans for a while. If you wanted to get all deluxe, you could add a guitar amp into a small bass cab and roll off some lows. Or you could just run a distortion pedal. I opt for the pedal myself. There are a million pedals out there, but the VT does do a good job at copping an overdrive sound similar to dUg's.

King's X is my favorite band---so if you roll the lows off, you can use a guitar amp for the mids and highs without blowing the speakers, and just run a bass amp for the lows? I think Tom Peterson (Cheap Trick)and Entwhistle (Who) did the same sort of thing, right?

There is also some technique to achieving DUg's sound as well, such as his use of a pick, fresh strings (I believe he uses DR High Beams .040-.100) and low action (listen closely to most live clips and you'll hear a lot of fret buzz).
Oh, and slinging that bass way down around you knees

@JimmyM I was surprised not only at how well the VT does at copping the sound, but how well the overdrive responds to playing dynamics. With the drive at around 10 o'clock, I hear just a tad when playing lightly, but boy does it roar when I dig in hard. I find that when used together, the BBDI gives me the heavy deep scooped lows while the VT provides that gritty top end associated with DUg's tone.
