Just IMHO But I have had great luck dealing with Eurotubes.com. Just call them up tell them what amp you have and what you want out of it and they will fix you up with the right tubes.

why do you think the tubes are on their way out? did you measure them? my 1972 beat up svt has the original preamp tubes, all still measure near new. the stock tubes were mullards. to get the original sound, you need the same brand of original tubes. a tube dealer will "suggest" tubes he has in stock, be sure to get the original brand.

The stock tubes would probably be sovteks or "ampeg hot rods" which as far as I know were just relabeled chinese manufacture similar to groove tubes or ruby. I had one of the pre-amps at one point, the one with a 12AU7 in it so I think it was the SVP-pro, and the AU was an ampeg hot rod, the others had been swapped around. I'd say just order a few and see what you like. For inexpensive tubes, I've had good results with this one.
