Hey, I hope this is cool with the rules and all...

Ampeg V4 1/2 Stack

Somebody in my town is selling this and I thought maybe someone on here would be interested!

There's not usually any good stuff like this posted on my local CL!

A little overpriced for my taste but I'm sure one could knock 'er down a hundred or two if they were interested.

As well, that's more a guitar rig right now I 'spose.

IMO, it's not overpriced at all for what you're getting sound, quality, and reliability-wise. in order to use it for bass, i'd recommend swapping out the 12's with some bass speakers, but i love my old v4's with 4x12 cabs.

Eh, I've picked up about three V4's and V4B's over the past couple years for $400-$450. The cab shouldn't be more than a few hundred in addition.

For the value of the rig it might be worth $1000 to a gasser or urgent buyer, but that's a price that has been driven up over the last couple years. There are much better deals to be had and $1000 is definitely not a requirement to shell out for this type of rig.

yeah, you can find them for that, but i sold one of my V4 heads shown above for $1K. it had been completely gone thru with all new tubes and caps, so IMO, it depends entirely on the condition of it.

+1. If you can find a V4/V4B in the $4-500 range it's almost guaranteed to need some repair work. For one with a cap job and fresh tubes, plus cab and cart $1000 might be a little high, but certainly not over the top. Leaves room to negotiate at least.

A V4 completely gone through and restore could easily be worth that much. Not just due to collectibility, but due to great tone and quality that's way beyond compare to a lot of the stuff out there today.
