I have since built a head box for it and installed a new faceplate and knobs that I got from Fliptops (the originals were missing).
My tech installed a new power transformer (also from Fliptops) and power tubes.
The head looks and behaves like new now.
The cab is a mid '70's Ampeg V-2 that was originally designed for guitar (albeit, a huge guitar cab). I replaced the original 12" CTS drivers with four Eminence/Ampeg 12" bass speakers (the same that are used in the Ampeg BA112 combo) - and it sounds awesome for bass now. The ported cab goes deeper then an 810e on the low end and the the highs are very clear at the top end.
Soon I will be making a new AV grill for the cab as well - so it will look as good as the head - from the front anyway.
Sorry about the piano jumping into the photo.

Did you spy a little Heritage grill cloth in any of those photos?

Been sporting wood for that Heritage grillcloth for 3 years now. But I already have an SVT and a B-15 and don't have a V4B, and it would be more practical to me to have a V4B as an old guy who doesn't usually play super loud. But I see the Heritage rig as more of an investment that my wife and kids can sell and get some good money for when I kick it in 60-70 years. Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I was not planning on buying the Heritage 810, but one came up on my local Craig's List and they kept re-posting it with a lower price. Finally I decided I would sell a couple of my other cabs and go get it (still working on the selling the other cabs).
Like you, I don't have a need for the big rig very often, but I am playing an outdoor festival on the 27th of this month and I am looking forward to bringing the SVT-2/Heritage 810 out. I played the same festival last year and the backline was an SWR rig that I was not too fond of. Hopefully I can put my rig right in front of it for my two sets.

I have barely even been able to find any information on these bad boys on the internet let alone another one for sale that's all original. If you're around the Toronto/GTA area I might be considering parting with mine just because it can be a pain to move. |

There was a post they put up a while back that said something along the lines of "this is 100 watts to tube bass goodness" or something like that, real cryptic. NAMM is coming up though... |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Rochester, NH | | | I decided to play with the vt22 as a head today with my EV 400w 15L cab and then also try it out with my swr sm400 head..
its a super tough decision which i will be keeping.. The swr head has more eq options.. but the ampeg sounds pretty awesome too.. The ampeg has some serious power which is nice.. i figure I'll ask the guys in the band what they think.. get an seperate set of ears on the situation.
anyone else every had to choose between the two?

Speaking of "like an SVT" here's a V9 in Atlanta... http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/msg/3414876439.html

Sorry about the piano jumping into the photo. | Man that is sweet. Good to know about just replacing the drivers in that cab! Now I know what I'm scouting for.
