I will probably just keep my ev 15L. That's built into a flight case.. mqaybe this summer I will make a matching cab for it and put the ev in that. I really like a unified look on stage.. right now I will be using a small keyboard stand to hove it over the cab. The reverb spring shakes a ton when it sits directly on the cab..

Took the emblem off my spare vt22 cab.. found some old metal stuff that looks like a screen.. and had the square aluminum left over from a fish tank lighting project... I'm really digging the front now.. looks super aggressive.
I think for the markings on the face I am going to get single letters and numbers made up...
1. 2. V1. V2. T. M. B. R. S. G. P.
Something like that.. might even hand paint them.. we will see

Dunn, all from one amp and my G&L. I traded a Fender BXR 60 to a guy who had the Ampeg stored for 20+ years. He didn't want to work on it and just wanted an amp to practice. I got a full set of JJ's and an RCA NOS from Fliptops.net and had "The Old Pro" repair shop in Finksburg MD clean out the crud and touch up a few solder joints. The whole thing totaled just over $300. While my Mesa Buster Bass 200 is a fat, ballsy powerhouse, the Ampeg V4B is a mid and high tone machine. So if I may...Sir, I would like a number, please.

It's a VT-22 on a home build headbox, not bad for my first try.
Regretfully had to go back to solid state for more volume. The V4 just couldn't keep up with a clean tone. |

I'm not using exactly a wimpy cab, either. My pair of deltalites should take nearly the full output, yeah? They model to be excursion limited to 240W in my enclosure and can take 500W thermal. The V4 is listed as having 260W "max peak music power" per the manual listed on the V4 site. I don't run the bass knob much past noon and have an fdeck HPF in front.
So, be worried or not? It just sounds so good with the volume cranked, it's hard to restrain it. At that point I wouldn't be able to hear a train crash through the wall, much less if my cab's farting.

Cabs have been an SVT 410HLN and a self made 210. Something about the active basses and the V4B just didn't work as well for me.
I always Y-jacked the inputs so maybe that has something to do with it. |

*congrats by the way. That should be a great anchor for your squid boat.
