thanks. getting it for $200 if i go pick it up..

i offered the guy 275 if he delivers it. he said he might go for that.

it will barely fit in my 89 vw cabriolet. he said its 40x29x12

i measured the back of my car and its like 48x30 in the back seat.. if it were summer i would rock it with the top down .. but being 20F outside its not happening.. and i really dont want to drive my f250 with plow 1.5hrs each way..

What's the date code on them? I'll throw out CTS as a potential candidate.

Very well I'd expect. Aggressive mids work really well with the V4B.

Two actually. 2000 f250 with 8ft mm1. And a 95 f350 with a mm1 8ft. Just had the tranny rebuilt yesterday in the older one... plowing sucks the life out of the trucks

I didn't get a grill off pic.. the b25b is front load right? Not the folded one?

B25B came both front loaded and rear loaded but was always two forward facing speakers. The V4B was the jumbo folded horn. The V6B was a tall tilt back 2x15.

its here! good call on the cts speakers!

when i first plugged in i was getting a fair amount of breakup and distortion.. so i backed off the low eq knob on my bass and centered my pickup blend and pulled back the bass a little on the head.. and it sounds awesome.

has perfect tone for my liking. isn't super bright sounding has a great punch to it and has a nice hair to it to give it a little edge. Suprisingly light for the size too

I used to have a VT-22. My guitar player made fire with it.

No joke. He said "It sounded f_©%in' GREAT just before the smoke alarm went off!"

I ran it in that state through the effects loop (loop out->VT-22 input, VT-22 line out->loop return) of my old first series GK800RB and it made it sound like an SVT when I ran my '74 Tele bass through it.

It sounded fantastic.

I didn't see a horns in there.. I forgot to ask about that.. wasn't sure what it was.

There were just the two speakers. The 16/4ohm switch doesn't work either.. its just wired for 4ohm

So, I have a project on my hands. I recently got my V4 (Magnavox era clean as a whistle with the ORIGINAL TUBES in it). I was trying to find a cab that wasn't a fridge (8-10) to put under it that was at least as wide as the V4. I have serious issues with the head being wider than the cab. Anyway..... I found this thing and bought it from a fellow TBer near here. It's a mid 70s B40 cab with the original square backs in it. Of course, it needs a ton of work, but I think it will be fun. Also threw in a pic of the guts of my "new" V4 showing those Magnavox tubes.

I'd get all that crap out of there and run the wires directly to the jack to start with. They're decent speakers with a nice vintage tone. A single one will run out of steam between 30 and 50w RMS IME. The cab might not be able to take the V4B in overdrive. Your ears will be the judge there. If it can't handle it: If you wire the cab to 16 ohms, pull 2 power tubes (inner or outer), and set the head on 8 ohms selector you'll be running half power safely. Then they'll sing together without damaging your hearing.

I got it so I can crank it to about 3 o clock with it sounding great. Before I backed the low eq down on my bass it was breaking up a fair amount. I would rather it sound clean with a tiny bit of hair or growl..which I think I was able to attain. When I feel ambitious enough to take the cab apart again I will take that crossover out and I will figure out how to wire that switch so its functional again. I will spend some time with it tomorrow before and at practice to really fine tune it.

Tomorrow I will be trading my swr sm400 head and that ev flight case cab back to the guy I got it from 2 years ago. I will be getting a 70s fender bassman 10 (4x10 combo) and a 1965 kay galaxie guitar with case.. should be easier to sell those than the swr.. which has been tough finding a buyer for

I also figure if worse case those cts blow I can always grab a pair of kappas and toss them in there and have plenty of power handling
