Thinking about getting one of these. Can anyone chime in on the similarities, differences? Which is preferred by most players? Thanks.

The bass version is the obvious "better" choice, the guitar version has reverb and slightly different eq points. Both rock.

I just got my pre-Magnivox V4B a couple of weeks ago and I could not be happier. At home for practice I'm running it through a single SVT 15" cab. I also have an SVT 8 x 10 but it is in the equipment trailer and I haven't had a chance to play through that yet.

Ampeg V4B

Here's a couple of pics from the day I got it. This has had some work done: grounded cord installed, all new tubes. It looks fantastic but the real story is that it is THE sound I was looking for. Yeah, that is a Leslie cab to the right. My wife is very understanding of my gear sickness.

You are absolutely correct. I read many of these threads before making my decision to buy the V4B. Lots of experience and knowledge here.
