| Your speakers don't "push" any watts. The power rating is how much they will take before the.wire in the voice coil melts. But you'll probably tear the cones well before that happens. Speaker power handling is a mostly useless spec.
What's the impedance of your cabinets? If they're 8 ohms each then any amp that'll do 4 ohm or lower minimum is fine. JimmyM is a long time Ampeg fan I respect. Me, I've never played through any Ampeg except a B-15 that sounded great to my ears.
Used opens up a lot of options too. Last night there were two Eden WT-400 heads (400 WRMS @ 4 ohms) which I think are the best sounding amps I've ever used (I've had mine since '97 with no desire to replace it) on the TB classifieds in your price range.
