I've been curious what models he uses. I know it's a Peavey and Acoustic of some sort, but I've never been able to figure it out. anyone have any idea?

lmao. Jesse F. Keeler is most known as being the bass player for Death From Above 1979, and one half of MSTRKRFT. DFA79 has officially reformed, and MSTRKRFT is supposed to be putting out a new album sometime soon.

This one looks like an Acoustic 450 with the single row of knobs and the three switches to the right of the sliders.

Not sure about this 8x10. I know traynor made some like this, but not sure about others. Considering the mix and match speakers, it's probably been modded or at least beat to hell.

Yeah, it's a Traynor 8x10 Cab with "PA speakers" in it, according to an interview with JFK.

Well, now I know why my lady makes me listen to New Country!

Not my kind of thing but that drummer has a great voice.

yea, I never understood that. if/when I see them live, I'm going to be moving. I don't think it's possible to not move around an excessive amount when listening to them in any medium.

bassmanpaul, I can understand...not really, but I sorta can. as far as Sebastien's voice, check out his solo stuff to hear more of it. quite a bit different from this stuff: Sebastien Grainger

kramerbassfan, blah. lol. I dunno if that's the case, but either way, he gets some epic tone out of those hip pieces of iron. ha!

Does this also mean that the price of used Rickenbackers is going to skyrocket even more?

I don't see why it would. there's lots more famous bass players other than JFK who play/played Ric's (not to mention Scott Pilgrim vs. the World). also, I spy a bongo in your avatar...you can afford a used Ric if you wanted one.

I'm not hating... but he sounds the same pretty much regardless of what he uses, amirite?

Whether its some weird old acoustic, or a Peavey F800b, or some traynor, it doesn't really change the tone... most likely they are just cheap power.

I have some old hip iron like that too... a Peavey Bass 130, and a Coli 300.

Most likely his tone comes from whatever little hipster distortion/fx pedal he is always using on top of his amps.....

lol. I don't see how DFA79 gets off being labeled "hipster"...might be the mustaches, though. also, he uses amp distortion. no pedals except a stereo chorus pedal and a wah. I was just curious about the amps he uses. I have my own thing going on, I've just been curious as to what he uses. either way, I don't know of any other bands that sound like DFA79, if you're making some sort of backhanded insults towards them.

No matey, if i was insulting them, i would just straight up insult, them, lol.

And I use hip in the terms of "cool, all the rage", not the current movement that is a plague.

He uses what looks like a SUNN Beta series up there though

members of an awful hipster band called Fanfarlo. I was actually at that specific concert the photo was taken at. Bonnaroo '10. they were awful. the only thing enjoyable about the concert was that Baroness came on after them, and I got to see all the hipster toolbags in the audience wince as they had to listen to music with some balls while waiting to see Manchester Orchestra. Baroness freaking owned. I luckily managed front row. they were so loud, my clothes were vibrating.

this was taken by a photographer that was most likely directly in front of me in the press section during the first 10 mins, or so:
