Amplifying My Bass With Headphones?

Sign in to disble this ad
So hey hopefully this is the right forum for this I didn't really know where to look or ask.

I was wondering if there were any headphones with built in amplification that I could just plug into my bass and play with something really small and portable that I can stow in my gig bag.

Any help would be really appreciated!

+1 for the Pokit Rokit- get the bass model. There's also the Vox AmPlug, again, get the bass model.

Tascam BT1 MP3. It's more than a headphone amp but worth it IMO.
Fits in my shirt pocket. $200.00 250 tunes, tuner, metronome, lick looper
sound effects, can slow down tune and keep it in pitch.

Earwig is also a good headphone amp.

a simple micro mixer will allow you to plug a bass into one channel and a sound source (MP3 player, CD player or computer) to give you something to play along with. If you search Ebay they are often in the $40 range,

Thanks for the replies
I'll have to do some research and shopping around but the rockit and amplug ones look pretty good at the moment.

I've got an amplug bass, tone isn't brilliant but it's good enough for practising when you need to be quiet.

I got the "Boostaroo" from radio shack. I use it before my korg pandoras box. Boost signal really well going into the pandora.

I agree with this recommendation. Actually, they discontinued this and replaced it with the Tascam GB-10

Great for learning covers too.

You could use an iPod touch or iPhone with a gryphon cable that will plug into the bass, then into the iOS device, and plug headphones into it.

GK has a great free app that will allow you to mix the bass signal with the tune your playing with. I use the Peterson Strobo app for tuning. Wherever I am, I have my earbuds and iPhone with me so I'm able to plug and play.

I have a David King "C" Series that has a built in headphone amp. It has an 1/8" stereo jack that's almost invisible on the front and runs on a 9v. battery. You simply plug your headphones directly into the bass. You might see if David will install one on your bass, it was a cheap option new. Here's a pic of the bass (on the left), the small knob is the headphone volume and the jack is above it.

So I bought a MP BT1 used, didn't come with a manual but I figured out how to slow the songs down but it changes the pitch when you slow the song down. Is it a setting I'm missing? Or do you have to slow it down and then manually pitch it back up?

Thanks

I've been happy with my amPlug Bass. Haven't used my little combo at home since I got it, the 3.5mm aux jack is a great feature. Sound is adequate for my needs, by no means transparent, though.

I don't have the unit in front of me, but there is an option to automatically do that for you.

I believe when the song is queued up, press Enter (the center button) and one of the first options is VSA. You want that to be ON. That is Variable Speed Audition, and means you can change the speed without changing the pitch. I don't think I ever change that setting...

The manual is at this link

There is also a firmware update at that page.
