another 1x15 or 4x10?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im currently running a Peavey Mark IV with a Peavey 1x15, (200 watts 4 ohms).

I was thinking of getting another cab so I can run the Mark IV at a full 300 watts live, not just 200.

Would another 4x10 be a solid choice, or should i just spring for another 1x15?

You won't notice the 100 watts much at all but you will certainly notice the extra 15. BTW, those things sound great through the old BW equipped 215's, which is essentially what you'll end up with.....in 2 halves. And yeah, always best to use matching speakers. As far as mismatches go, the 15+410 is about the worst one.....unless there's somebody out there using a 12+410 or 10+410 stack.

interesting. im ready for that extra umph and low end of another 15.

my friend wants to make a 15 out of 2x4's for kicks but im leaning towards finding another cheap 1x15.

It should be pointed out that it's not just any 115 you want, but another of exactly the same cabinet -- "matching" cabinets means just that. It's not the speaker size per se that's important, it's that particular driver in that particular cabinet. Others might work, but they probably wont.

Just keep an eye out for another Peavey 15, they're abundant and cheap used.
