I am considering the IPR1600 with an PV215EQ instead of a bass amp. Has anyone used this combination? Opinions?

You'd still need some sort of pre to drive the poweramp. I don't think the eq does that.

Any decent pre-amp would work for that: VT Deluxe, Hartke, MXR, etc. Even a multi-effect pedal such as a Boss, Zoom, or Digitech would work. You might even be able to just use an EQ pedal or rack unit if you are going for a more "natural" sound.

Yeah, as long as it can boost your signal up to what the poweramp needs for input. Could be a little tubemp or other cheap pre with no tone controls if you've already got enough eq.

In an emergency I once used a graphic eq pedal into a power amp, it worked suprisingly well.
