Another cab. Which one?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I was hoping to get some help from someone with expierence with GK cabs. I have a 1001RB 2 head and am running one GK 4x10 400 watt non NEO cab. What would be a better option for another cab? A 2 12 NEO or another 4x10 non NEO? I wanted an 8x10 from the start but am dealing with a Honda Accord for transport and thats just not working. This is my forst time using GK stuff so I am not sure what direction to go.

Thanks for the help. Lots of good information on here so soak up!

Depends on what you are using it for.
I will assume you need stage volume.
For that purpose I would get one of those 2x12 cabs, either a NEO or an MBE. Or you could go 4x10 NEO or MBE. Or you could just add another cab like the one you have already, but it will not fit in your car I guess.

Thanks for the reply. I can fit another cab in the car. Just not one fridge. I have never played 12s but read great things about them on here. I am looking to add a little depth as well as use all the available watts my head is capable of dishing out. I don't see many rigs with 12s and 10s. I see 10s and 15s but I was thinking the 12s would be good.

Thanks,

i don't ever use anything but matching cabs. if you can swing the car room, the 410 non neo would be my choice.

It also seems like the cab is having a hard time keeping up with the head. Its only rated at 400 watts. Do the NEO cabs sound that much better? It is 200 more for the NEO?

Do you think adding another 4 10 non neo will clean it up a bit at volume? I mean having the 700 watts going to 2 400 watt cabs instead of one?

absolutely. if you want to beef up your volume, a second cab is the way to do it. and a second cab of the same kind always works better than non-matching cabs. since it's a 410, it will be a bit louder than a 212 and a lot louder than a 115, plus you won't leave yourself open to the phasing issues that often plague non-matching cab rigs and cut down on their output.
